Imaging systems complexity levels

In imaging solutions, three systems can be distinguished according to their complexity and their application possibilities. The customer’s functional specifications for the use of the respective system are decisive. Based on our experience, we prepare the relevant, optimal concept for each case.

1. Intelligent sensors (Vision Sensors)

Pure sensor systems are camera systems which contain the evaluation unit and often already have the corresponding lighting. Through simple parameterising, this system can usually be integrated into the production environment after a short introduction.

2. Intelligent camera systems (Smart Cameras)

Camera systems are similar to the pure sensor technology having an evaluation unit and the corresponding lighting. For the integration, however, comprehensive skills in imaging and training in the respective imaging software are needed.

3. PC-based camera systems

If several cameras are used in a system, the cost of a PC-based camera system is indicated because the intelligence must only be paid for once. Additionally, the possibilities of such systems are much more extensive in that more complex jobs can be done with a PC-based camera system than with the already-mentioned systems. Comprehensive programming skills in a standard language such as e.g. C# and the integration of imaging libraries are needed.
